Wine Cellar Waterproofing
Custom Wine Cellar Design & Basement Waterproofing.
Gooch are experts in waterproofing wine cellars, working on projects throughout the UK. Here is an outline of the process of wine cellar installation & basement waterproofing:
Step 1 – Initial sealing
There are two key options. We will advise you on which is the best for your needs.
Option A – Cementitious basement waterproofing is a multi-coat system that is both durable and versatile. The coatings are predominately sand/ cement-based, polymer modified renderings which applied to the basement internal walls. It sets to form a bond with the brick-work, creating an impervious barrier to the movement of water.
Option B – Cavity Drain Membrane System. A studied membrane is attached to the walls, ceiling and floor of the basement. Any water that enters the cavity behind the membrane is channeled to a sump or existing drainage.
Step 2 – Rendering
Once installed the rendered walls and screeded floors ready for whatever finish you wish to apply. Alternatively, if using the Cavity Drain Membrane System the walls are typically covered with plasterboard and a screed applied to the floor after the basement waterproofing has been completed.
Step 3 – Finishing
You will then be ready to add the furnishings, fittings and most importantly…. the wine!
